I also stumbled upon your blog yesterday. I’m also thinking about doing self-study. I don’t know if this is a good idea, since I have studied both alone and with a partner with mixed results. I have yet to figure out which works the best for me. Do you have any regrets??

Hi. Thanks for this website. I am looking into the self study BarBri course right now. Do you know the cheapest way I can do this? Is it possible for me to buy the books used from someone who just took the bar and download the podcasts online or from someone who downloaded the classes recently? Thanks.

Ha! Just yesterday I had the same issue. One StudySmart app installed fine (although it put the application in a weird place), the next one didn’t appear to install at all. Re-download, same problem.

Call support based on the “2-Install Only” threat. Don’t need a bigger hassle.

While I was holding for “Robbie” to test the application (he insisted that I had a bad download) it occurred to me that it was a permissions problem, and installed properly when I was logged into the Administrator’s account.

Robbie came back on the phone, insisting that there was no problem with the application, and it worked just fine. I told him how I fixed the problem, and asked him if he was using a single admin account.

He started arguing with me, and I said, “hey, hold on. I’m trying to help you understand how to fix this for the next person — and I assure you this problem will happen to somebody else.”

He petulantly replies, “I don’t need that kind of help.”

Woah. Fine. So I hung up.

But you’re right to have a user account separate from the admin account. If you hose yourself you don’t hose the whole computer.
